Mission Statement and Organisation

The research of IMPACT focuses on the mechanics of fluids, solids and systems, on chemical reactions and process technology and on control. In this area the institute covers the full range from exploration and thorough understanding of the underlying principles of physics, chemistry, mechanics and mathematics to the development of `tools´ for practical applications. The Institute aims to contribute to solutions for problems relevant to society, through the generation of technologically relevant knowledge, to enable the optimization of products, processes and methods, to improve sustainability and to minimize the environmental imprints of these processes and products in every phase of their life cycle. Main partners in this respect are National and International Research Foundations, the R&D departments of advanced and innovative industries, the technological institutes and users in academia and society.
